So what are you going as?

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is a day to take it easy & look forward to the weekend. And…to take it easy on posting, too…by asking a simple question. Participate or visit other participants by clicking the button on the left.

I love the fact that my kids are older because at Halloween time there’s no elaborate or expensive costumes.  NOT because they don’t go trick or treating.  Because they do…yes…at 15 & 17 they are still begging the neighbors for candy.  (or an occasional 1/3 cup oil, 1 egg or like a….steak or something.  You know, the normal stuff.)

Halloween 07 003Alan likes to go as something unique, as is evident by past costumes.  Yes, he was a refrigerator in 07.

A toaster in 08. This year he wanted to go as Bubble Boy.  You know…the kid in the hoax…who was (not) floating in the air…in a ‘flying saucer’.  Yup, that kid.   Alan got wind that other people were going as Bubble Boy and now must think of a new costume….because, after all…he must be unique.

So the other day he says…”I know!  I’m going to pin socks all over me….and go as ‘static‘!”    And of course it changes by the minute….on the way home from school yesterday he said “Maybe I’ll get a Bernie Madoff mask and just ask people for money.”    That’s m’boy!

**there is still a wee bit of time to enter my yummy giveaway!

My Aloha Question:  What is the silliest or weirdest costume you or your kids have worn?

  5. Ha! Halloween costume making has been so fun for us. I’ll be sad when my kids are “too old” for dressing up.

I love your son’s topical costume ideas! I say the more bubble boy, Sarah Palin and Bernie Madoff costumes the better. Helps us remember the stupid people (Bubbleboy’s dad not the boy himself) that made national headlines and maybe not believe the same BS next time something so foolish happens and a star is born. Speaking of foolish, did you hear the new things Levi Johnston is saying about Sarah Palin? Completely crazy! Not that this isn’t all publicity hype because she’s got a book coming out soon or anything. Wink! She sure cranked that one out in a hurry…

Anyhow, I’ll stop ranting up your comment section and just wish you a Happy Halloween!

  8. My sister and I are 11 mo. and 3 days apart, so my mom used to coordinate our costumes. When we were in elementary school my older sister loved to make our costumes. She made me Cyndi Lauper and my sister Madonna. It was so cute we won awards in the parade that day!

  9. I love the imagination! Way to go. My son is going as a dead soccer player (he’s 12) & that’s pretty much as weird as it gets around here. Daughter always chooses princess types or pretty witches/vampires. We’re lame.

  10. I looooove the idea of static!!!

    Omg, that is genius!!!

  11. I love the static idea! The kids have not gotten too weird or creative yet. We’re still in the movie characters or princesses. My oldest is into the scary/gross costumes.

  12. My costumes were always so lame! We had those dumb plastic masks and nylon costumes that ripped by the time you got home. There was nothing inventive about it.

  15. Bernie Madoff, that’s a good one!
One year my boyfriend and I went as “the life of the party.” We dressed in disco attire (I wore a groovy dress and white go go boots; he wore an afro and leisure suit) and we brought a fog machine, disco ball and cd player with us. We party hopped and were a hit every where we went. It was such fun!
