New grains and new drivers. Not related.

Two posts in one! Yea! I just wanted to say thank you to all that ordered from my new business, Aventine Hill Bath Emporium! All orders have been shipped out! During the last couple days I’ve taken one more step and also opened up an Etsy Store! You can visit it here. Most of the products have been uploaded to Etsy but I still have a couple more to get up there. I’m also working on a couple new products and just unveiled a line of GRAINS. Which are, I must say, are AWESOME! I love grains!

On another note, MC started driver’s ed classes at school. So do you remember when we were in school, and driver’s ed was an elective you could take? Remember when it was free? Them days are gone pal. $309.00 Crazy, man!
I’m hoping that when they get to the ‘in-car’ part, she doesn’t give the instructor a problem. You see, we had quite the adventure the other day. We were going somewhere in the afternoon, and she said, “Mom, can I pull the car out of the garage and down the driveway?” Well, considering this girl doesn’t have a real strong interest in driving (I’m not sure she’ll get her 50 hours in before her temps expire)….I saw this as an opportunity to get a bit of driving time in.
So she went down the driveway and I said, “No one’s coming, just pull out and go down the street.” I could see the apprehension (she’s afraid she’s going to kill someone. literally) But she pulled out and we drove about 500 ft to the stop sign at the corner (which is a main road). She unbuckles her seat belt and says, “I’m NOT driving on the main street, let’s switch seats!!! (I know she’s terrified of the main streets…but she’s gotta learn sometime, right?) So, I didn’t budge and told her to wait until no traffic was coming and pull out. She started crying. We sat there forever about 6 minutes. The whole time she’s screaming at me….you know…the “I hate you mom” bit. Over and over…and over. She finally did pull onto the main street, tears streaming down her face, screaming I hate you. I let her pull off on the next side street. She didn’t speak to me for 10 minutes and was pissed at me most of the day.
Then on Sunday, at 4:45am, when it was pitch dark out…and everyone else in their right mind is sleeping…MC had to work, so I explained that no one was going to be on the road….she should drive on the main streets….perfect time! So she did! It was great! She didn’t even freak out when we pulled into the parking area and 7 deer - right smack in her path - got startled and started hopping and running every which way.
Life would be wonderful for her if everything was accessible by side streets ONLY. lol.

My driver’s ed teacher was a complete moron. He insisted we listen to Rush Limbaugh in the car. When it was my turn to drive I would turn it off. He hated that, but honestly is there anything more distracting than the yelly voice of Mr. Limbaugh?
Sounds like MC is getting the hang of it. Good for you to push her a little.

She sounds like the girl from Clueless! Too funny! I was so excited to drive when I was that age that if my mom offered me to drive, I jumped on it.

I can appreciate her apprehension. I used to hug the side of the road that my parents thought I was going to take out every mailbox.

Congrats and OMG at the same time… I have one better, I almost took out my mom when I was learning to drive… While my father was in the passenger’s seat. LOL! Priceless. Tell her it gets better and then later, she won’t want to drive.

My ex (first,) husband — I’m still on number 2 and plan on keeping it that way, taught me how to drive. I didn’t get my license until I was 23. It was hell on both of us, harder for him than I, probably.
I hope she apologized to you for the screaming fit before the calm?
