We are but a speck.

This is truly AMAZING. Thanks to my friend Joanne who emailed me this. I had to post it because it really is fascinating! Especially in the way it is presented.

I CERTAINLY THOUGHT THIS WAS ENLIGHTENING. BEYOND OUR SUN … IT’S A BIG UNIVERSE.

Antares is the 15th brightest star in the sky. It is more than 1000 light years away. Now how big are you?
Now try to wrap your mind around this…..This is a hubble telescope ultra deep field infrared view of countless ‘entire’ galaxies…billions of light years away.

Below is a close up of one of the darkest regions of the photo above.

HUMBLING, ISN’T IT?
Be happy…..and don’t sweat the small stuff!

I’ve seen this before too, it definitely provides some perspective. We are but a speck on a speck, my friend. Have a great Saturday.

I’m afraid to think about this too much. Next thing you know you will tell me that all of those celestial bodies are not revolving around me.

Earth is about the size of one of Jupiter’s moons…if we were on Jupiter’s moon, then Jupiter would take up the whole sky!
As a kid, once saw an illustration of that in a science book (how the sky would look if we were standing on Jupiter’s moon) and it scared me to death! haha.
Awesome graphics.

Hey Sheila… yeah, I’ve seen this before, but it’s still amazing the second time. For me, it’s actually a weird feeling when you see the relevancy of things.

It truly is amazing the kind of perspective you can get by looking beyond your small little world.
