Word From The Third – NYC
filed in Word from the third on Oct.12, 2008
Hey everyone! Let me introduce my 14 year old son….I’ve granted him some ‘personal space’ on my blog under a new feature called “Word From The Third” (his idea, his title). His posts, when he gets around to posting, will be all his. So step into the mind of a teenager. See life the way he takes it in, and enjoy!

I think it’s the first time that someone else is writing something on this website.
Hey, this is Alan. This is my first entry in WORD FROM THE THIRD. (Third child, dig? To this, you would respond, “Like a shovel!” Thought you should know)
It makes enough sense that I would have my post about my New York adventure since we already have Walleyworld up here. My grade school traditionally had the 7th and 8th grade classes raise money for a trip to Washington DC or another place. This past year was only eighth grade, and we were definitely pretty excited to have a big trip with all of the people we’ve come to be great friends with. Of course, we had to raise $15,000. We had school dress down days; pie, flower and candy sales and we managed to get the money with no grant, and no pizza business (which used to get $8000, but was cancelled). The excitement of the students peaked just as we started to take the bus to New York. And weird people like me really enjoy long bus rides, so I was cool with that anyway. Sorry, I have to keep this short for now, Mom’s orders. But I will get the whole trip up here, one day.
I am the person who wasn’t as enthused by NY as everyone else. Why? So much hype, it’s the big city and it’s just so amazing, right? All loaded up with people, there’s just a huge deal made from it. Well, this was an awesome week for me, and I’d love to do it again with my friends.
Some of the places we visited were The Museum of Natural history, The UN, Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Air and Space Museum, a grand adventure to the empire state building (on foot, but actually fun) and Grand Central Terminal. Why, yes, there’s more and no I’m not telling you quite yet. You’ll be back.
