Word From the Third
(Conversations with my son)

(on Mothers Day - evening)
“You know what would make my Mothers Day complete? ”
“ughhhh, what?”
“If you put the leftovers from dinner in containers…and in the fridge for me”
“Ughhhh…..but I hate doing that”
“I didn’t like being in labor all those hours with you guys either…but I did it” ((grin))
“Yeah, but look what you got from it….someone to clean up dinner for you.”
((blink blink))

(on dissecting a frog)
“So it was weird, we were dissecting a frog today and we had to pin it’s arms back. And because of how their arms are, it was hard to keep them back. So the teacher came around and took the frogs arm and said…”Okay now turn your head (so we wouldn’t see) and then she broke it’s arm so it would stay pinned down”
“That’s weird….”
“Yeah, you could hear it break. Then we cut it’s jaw open and then cut the belly open.”
“So…she…. didn’t….. want you to see her break it’s arm before you sliced it open?” “Huh”

I’m going to have to remember your line next time one of my kids says they don’t want to do something. That’s a keeper.

You have to admit, it’s odd. The frog is dead folks, and you’re about it cut it open…..does breaking it’s short little cramped up leg really matter at this point.
The real question here is…………..did he put the leftovers in containers…LOL.?

Oh man…you have SMART kids…LOL!! That’s a great one
And the frog thing…I shivered a bit there…I HATED doing that dissection thing..blahyk!!! All of those teachers that get-all-into-dissections are of a strange breed. I think what I’m most disturbed by though Sheila is your juxtaposition of leftovers/frog legs!!! LOL

Yes, he DID clean up dinner. With a smile too. He’s a very witty young man.

That’s why I reproduced, to have plenty of people to clean up after me, except they’re the ones making the mess…hmm, not the best strategy. I’m so glad I don’t have to dissect frogs, or break their arms for being difficult.

I should use the “I was in labor for all those hours, this is the least you could do for me” line except I was in labor less than 4 hours with each kid. Doesn’t mean I enjoyed it, but I think I got off pretty easy compared to some women. Hope you had a great Mom’s Day!
The frog- When I was in high school we did the frog and a fetal pig, The pig was the worst, so cute and pink. I hope your son doesn’t have to do the pig, at least not yet.
