A long, ‘spirited’ night.

I’m nursing a bit of a hangover due to an argument with someone from the other side of the aisle last night.  I had a couple of glasses small bottle of wine because I was completely stunned at the mentality of some people.  I actually blogged about it but on the advice of my sober husband, decided not to post it.  Based on the uninformed people that surround me and speak in 30 second soundbites from commercials rather than knowledge of facts, I see this Obama Presidency is going to be a tough sell to that mindset.

But, with that said, I feel a renewed sense of hope after the historic election last night.  I finally after the last 8 years see some light at the end of the tunnel for our country.  I pray that we can recover from this last presidency, globally and at home.  It’s going to take a lot of work.  But I think it’s finally within reach.  I’m so glad that my children have experienced this whole thing, saw the process, learned the facts, and are capable of accepting the differences in opinion on both sides.   Unfortunately they’ve also seen the true colors of some of those closest to them.  Whether it be fellow students, teachers, family or friends.  Sad but reality.

Now, time for another Tylenol.

Congratulations President Elect Barack Obama!

This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment. This is our time – to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth – that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we can’t, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people:

Yes We Can. Thank you, God bless you, and may God Bless the United States of America.

If you haven’t seen the speech in it’s entirety, here it is:

It’s a good day

So (so far ~wink wink) it’s been a good day! Shane and I took the kids to the polls so that they too could be a part of this historic election. MC ‘voted’ with me and Alan with Shane. I got the last empty booth, Shane had to use a clipboard along with others.

I got to watch my oldest daughter, Kaylee, working the polls.  I felt very proud of her and it warmed my heart to see first hand, her involvement in the community.  AND we got free Starbuck’s coffee!!!!!  Whoooo Hooo!  (I’m all hopped up on caffeine!)  lol
