(setting the scene: tree trimmers hired by the power company to trim trees in the way of power lines)
I saw the men on the side of our house. “Are you going to trim by the wires on the sides of the lots or just the back?
Because as you can see, these wires are covered with branches and starting to sag”
“Oh, sorry….last week we would have trimmed the side wires, but this week we are only doing ‘priority’ trimming which is only the back wires. Maybe we’ll be back in January when we have more time”
.
.
Hmmmm. For the next 45 minutes I watched them talking on their cells, swinging on my neighbors swings…..while my wires are still sagging.

I'm Sheila. In addition to raising 1 husband and 3 teens, I've founded

I think you mean tree butchers, cause that is what they do to the trees around here.

My jaw literally dropped at the swinging on the swings. Because really? It just seems rude to me. If you’re working in my yard, please be respectful.
And @Mike- you should see what the National Park Service has been doing to trees around here for an example of butchery. Clear cutting- it’s not a thing of the past. They want to restore the battlefield to how they looked in 1863 to help visitor’s imagine the battle better. The fault in this logic is that now you can see the Wal-Mart, not part of the 1863 view scape.
Now I’m all fired up and am going to go swing on the kids swing set to simmer down.

Yep, construction and contract work always seems to go at a snail’s pace. They do the same here then frantically come out right before a noreaster, but by then it’s usually too late so the power company hires extra workers to get everyone’s power back on in a “timely” fashion.
Pretty funny that they actually sat on the swings though…wow. Wonder if they even fathomed they’d be made famous on your blog, lol.
they do not trim anything except the “easement” on accounta liability. between the pole and your house is your problem. (like the water lines and natural gas)if a limb or tree falls on the line and it breaks costs you money not to memtion the fire it will most likely cause (as in the case of my mother’s house)
oh and don’t forget about the neighbor’s line that your limb / tree broke.
if you can ever get them (light co) to trim ‘em you got lucky, not saying it would never ever happen, but I guess it could

I would have been absolutely furious! I can’t believe the gall of those guys!
I don’t understand the logic or lack thereof, at all!!!!
No fun!
Preventative maintenance always comes second. Sad, because then it’s usually too late.

How awful! They don’t seem too professional. I hope they trim your trees soon instead of waiting until January.
You need to send a link to this post to the power company.
And to some newspapers.

I would be steamed! Maybe you should have offered them snacks and a massage too since they seemed to just be kickin’ back, enjoying themselves, lol! What a headache!

they obviously were supervisors, who forgot to bring the workers to tell what to do…lol.

I just had to come back and say that your comment about praying for me totally cracked me up.
You ought to send those pictures to the power company. What a bunch of horse pooey!
Personally I am a big fan of the lazy tree trimmers sitting on swings and staring into the sky… classic! Glad we pay them with our taxes… NOT!

Hey, they are really busy keeping those swing sets from flying away and getting tangled in the wires! Sheesh

That’s crazy. I wonder why they would keep cutting off trees. As for these guys, I think it might take them a long time to get the job done.
The Pluses and negative of cell phones….if they trim then it’s a plus…If not then it’s a negative. What ever happened to workers kind decision, Nowadays if they aren’t told to do it, they just swing……

wow. reminds me of the guys who work for the housing department here. it takes three guys and two days to do a job that would normally take a few hours!

So how many workers does it take to cut tree branches? In your last picture, it looks like they’re hoping the problem would fix itself.
