Miscellaneous Musings

So. I’m trying to cut out all the crap we don’t use. Case in point, business phone…we don’t use one of our fax lines. So I call to have that charge of $5. per month taken off.
“Okay, I can do that ma’am…but I have to advise you there is a one time charge of $20 to change your account”
((crickets chirping…silence)) WHAT YOU TALKIN BOUT PHONE CO LADY????
(I didn’t do it….I’ve decided to just switch companies.)

Last month we received the monetary judgement against the tenant we evicted. Today I had to go BACK downtown to file said garnishment. So of course there’s no parking spaces, so I got enough walking done for a week. Got badgered by a hot dog vendor. Stood in a ‘cattle line’ waiting to go through the metal detectors. The line was held up several times because people are MORONS and cannot read the BIG signs all over that says “Everyone Must Remove Belts”. Uhhh. Dummies.
Got up to the garnishment counter. Was told I CANNOT file today because there’s ‘one more step prior to filing’. WHAT???????????? They printed up a form. And told me to take it to the POST OFFICE. Mail one copy to the old tenant and get the other stamped with today’s date at the post office. WAIT ANOTHER 15 DAYS. THEN come back.
ARE YOU FRICKIN KIDDING ME?
Apparently, even though the tenant appeared in court and signed off on the garnishment…I have to mail him this letter so that ‘he knows I’m starting the garnishment’. My God, the stupidity and red tape of the government.
So. I go to the post office and wait in line with 10 people in front of me. Everyone sighing heavily while the only two employees at the window chit-chatted for 4 – count um four – minutes about what they’re doing this weekend. I get to the counter, she stamps my court paper and I start walking away…when I see…the date stamp is set to YESTERDAY! Uhhhhhhh…….go back and actually have to argue with the girl to change the date and restamp. People are nuts. Lazy. And nuts.

And on a final note: I’d like to give a shout out to KFC!
Yesterday…KFC had downloadable coupons for a FREEE 2pc meal with two sides. Limit of 4 coupons. Hmmmm. With the extra 2 pcs and a side I bought for Shane…I fed my family of 5 for just $4.48 Granted, 1/2 of us are now napping (as we normally do after eating fast food) but it was worth it! Free food and quiet times! That new grilled chicken? AWE-some. (sorry lil fella)

What a hassle!! I’d be pulling out my hair too.
That grilled chicken is good. Although I think it’s still pretty greasy stuff and not half as healthy as they are claiming it is. But, it’s still delicious and its fast food, so really, how much “health” can one person expect to get? We tried it a couple of weeks ago. I DID print out my free oprah coupons, but I was afraid of the early promotion lines so I’m gonna give it a few days to chill out.

What a crazy day you had. I am going crazy over filling paper work out. I am thankful that is all I have to do. Good luck with the ex Tenant.
Thanks for visiting Grampys place.

Sounds like it was a fun day for you! Don’t you just love all the hoops you have to go through for the government? UGH!
We got our coupons for KFC, but haven’t used them yet. I’m thinking of using them this evening. Glad to know it was good.

What a pain in the butt! My in-laws evicted then garnished the wages of a bad tentant a few years ago. Big hassle, but they got their money out of him.
Way to go on the free chicken. Sounds good, we don’t eat out very often, but I think I’m feeling a cooking strike come on soon.

That sucks. Dealing with the government is just the worst. I try to avoid it wherever possible. As a rule, they seem to make everything they touch more complicated and more expensive.
I just can’t get on board with the grilled chicken from KFC. I haven’t tried it, but the fried stuff is so good. I don’t go there for health food.

Free chicken?! Why the heck didn’t I hear about this sooner? My kids dig the poultry and I’m all about free food. Lines at the post office though and visiting a government office, both have to be one of the outer circles of hell. Ugh.

I’d live on fried chicken if I could! And some days do. Goes real well with my beer system.
