And would you like a side of MERCURY with that?
filed in Can You believe this? on Jan.29, 2009
More disturbing information coming out about what is in the foods we eat every day. This time it’s Mercury. Yes people, we’re consuming the always hazardous in any form…Mercury. We might as well just crack open a thermometer and take a swig. We’re being poisoned.
All this after learning that the plant that manufactures the Sam and Ella Peanut Butter was aware on at least 5 previous testings, that they had salmonella in their product. Never reported it, but knew it and took no precautions or made changes. The stuff that is in our food supply is astonishing. No wonder we have health problems! Look at the shit we are putting in our bodies.
Back to the mercury. At least 2 agencies tested on 2 occasions, mercury levels in High Fructose Corn Syrup. In 1/2 the samples in agency 1, mercury was found in 9 of 20 samples. In the second test, by another agency, mercury was found in 1/3 of all samples. These ‘samples’ were comprised of 55 Brand Name Foods. Make no mistake…these tests have been performed at least since 2005, according to what I’ve read.
Now, it’s estimated that on average, we consume 12 teaspoons of high fructose corn syrup a DAY. But that’s on average. Can you IMAGINE how much a teen or young child consumes? Oh. My. God. Look at your ingredient labels, if HFCS is on there, it’s most likely #1 or #2… which of course means it’s ‘mostly’ made of that.
If there ever was a time to DEMAND the FDA take high fructose corn syrup out of our products, it is NOW. The FDA has previously recommended not eating a lot of fish due to the mercury content. Let’s all make it known that we’re know what they know. And we’re sick of being poisoned. Get rid of HFCS!!!!!!!!!!

The thing that scares me the most out of all these food related issues is the fact that so many pregnant woman have (and continue to) consumed these foods, potentially harming or even killing their unborn babies! Terrible terrible stuff.
To answer your questions:
I couldn’t find Baconnaise in any local stores either. I had to buy my online (www.baconnaise.com) up in the menu section there is a option for buy online.
We only got 8 inches of snow yesterday, BUT that adds onto our season’s total of (are you ready?) 117.1 inches!!!! We are hoping to win the Golden snowball award again this year. And by “we” I mean those freaks in the area I live in that LOVE the snow. WEIRDOS. I’d much rather win a golden sunshine award or something ya know?

Did you see that the PB plant actually had a leak in its roof? The FDA said salmonella-tainted rain and bird feces could fall through it. Yay.
You can’t even eat a salad anymore without being scared of something. It’s awful!

I have to agree with Aly. I’m terrified of even eating salad these days. Unless I can nuke it on the stove for several minutes, I’m scared to eat it.
I really wish they would take high fructose corn syrup off the market, too.

High fructose corn syrup is EVIL. Do you get the commercials by the corn growers about how wonderful it is? My favorite point they bring up is that “it’s fine in moderation.” Difficult to have it in moderation when it is in EVERYTHING.
And here I thought my hatred of fish had kept me safe from mercury. ARGH.

Oh, I didn’t need to read this. I’m already paranoid enough. Seriously. But I try to avoid HFCS anyway. Bad stuff. No matter what the corn grower’s commercials say.

How can someone possibly allow this to go on!? Knowingly allow it.
Mercury screws up nerves. I do think there has been a lot of awareness created on it lately so hopefully it will get the attention it more than deserves.
Tuna has a lot or mercury as you may know, eat it sparingly.

King Corn is a must see. I live in the middle of corn fields and you wouldn’t beleive all of the junk the farmers spray on the corn to increase production. They could care less about the quality because it’s just gets processed into HFCS, animal feed or ethanol. Frightening!
