Sears. Above and beyond!
filed in Can You believe this? on Nov.16, 2008
Okay, I got an email, one of those that says ahead of time ‘this is true, I checked with snopes.com!’ and I thought, ‘yeah right, there’s no way this is true!’. So I checked it myself, and it is!
So this is the gist of things: By law, when a reservist is called to duty, the company they work for is required to hold their position open and available , but nothing more. This usually results in a large cut in pay and loss of benefits.
Sears voluntarily pays the difference between salaries AND maintains all benefits including medical insurance for reservist employees for up to two years!
That amazes me! The email also states that we should all shop Sears and you know what? I agree. I think I’ll try to buy at least one item at Sears this holiday season and from now on, all the little hardware stuff I need? Sears.
Thanks Donna, for the heads up on this one.

Sears is good. They gave us a free fridge once. Really.

I got that email, too. I swear, the day I got it I had just been to Sears and had an all around bad experience. The employees were rude (when I could find one) and the store was a complete mess (dirty, overcrowded and disorganized). I vowed never to go back. Although I applaud their support of our armed forces, they REALLY need to get their stuff together.

To be honest, my recent experiences in so many retail establishments has been lacking any sort of customer service that I have come to expect very little. It’s really a shame, because poor service used to be the exception rather than the rule.
I applaud Sears for their assistance to the Military servicemen and their families. Shame on any company that doesn’t do the same.

I like to shop there on occasion for different things. Unfortunately, every time I’ve been there over the last couple of years the stores seem dead and wonder how long it will be before they’ll be forced to close. Let’s hope more companies follow the example of Sears. They’ve been around as long as I remember. They’re an American Institution!!!!
