Thelma’s Day in Court

So Kaylee (aka Thelma *original story here) went to court this afternoon.  She was a little nervous and came prepared with $100 hard earned dollars for her anticipated fine.

The Judge (Mayor) asked her about her school, grades, homelife, that kind of stuff.  She answered as I had hoped with a ‘yes, sir’ and a ‘no, sir’.  She explained what she had done to be pulled over.  Then, I sat in amazement and listened as the Mayor started handing down her ‘sentence’.  Continue reading

Homecoming

Yes, its almost inconceivable to think these two lovely young ladies were on the verge of a knockdown this afternoon! (Kaylee in blue – Middle child in black.  Reason she’s called Middle Child here)

Yes, it was almost the WWE here in our house today.  Two girls getting ready for homecoming, one bathroom….look out!  Alan quipped, “Boy, if it’s like this for homecoming, I can’t wait to see what’s like on their wedding day!”

Smart boy, learns fast!

I got to the point where I used the line, “Knock it off or neither of you are going ANYWHERE tonight!”  Of course, I didn’t intend to stick to that, because at that point, anywhere BUT here was a better option!

Other than that, the worst crisis we had stemmed from fingernails.  Both girls had them done yesterday.  Kaylee got acrylics and Middle Child just got them painted.  Kaylee was extremely flustered when she found out it’s ‘almost impossible to text with these nails”!  (The world is ending!)  And Middle Child was calling out….”Arghhh, mom!, Another nail chipped” every 30 minutes.

Needless to say, the eye rolling and bickering stopped, both of them ended up looking fabulous and Shane & I had the house to ourselves a few hours!   Yea!

I’m a mother of an 18 yr old now!

So yesterday was Kaylee’s 18th Birthday.  Shane came up with a brilliant joke that, of course, I agreed with whole heartedly.  We brought suitcases up from the basement and set them in the kitchen.  When Kaylee got home Shane greeted her at the door, gave her a big hug & wished her a very Happy 18th Birthday!

Then he said, “Since you’re 18, here’s your suitcases, NOW GET THE HELL OUT!”
Now, of course, she knew he was kidding…she’s lived with us for 18 years after all.

But we all had a great laugh!

UPDATE:  How sweet is this, my neighbor, (love my neighbors – well, most of them), Patty, gave Kaylee a card that was SO CUTE:  It said:

Make sure you wear cute shoes!
