Monday Garden Club

It’s Monday Garden Club over at Feet Off the Table!
So. We finally got around to prepping the area for the garden. I can’t believe how small our first garden was. We used an old dog kennel to fence it in and keep our dogs out. Since I grew a ton of stuff we could actually eat last year, we decided to expand it this
year.
Let’s just say….when it comes to anything with power tools, machinery, etc…we’ve got some dumb luck. FIRST pull on our sod cutter and the pull rope broke in two. But never fear! Duct tape was near! (we pretty much fix everything with duct tape)
.
And so we called it a night. Here is our new slightly expanded garden area. We closed off the open area with a makeshift temporary fencing until I can get some chicken wire. It’s about 16 ft x 7 ft. I already know next year it will be bigger.
This is my garden plan which I did through vegetable-gardening-online.com (click 2 enlarge) Now…if anyone sees any issues here…PLEASE let me know. You know I don’t know nothin bout plantin no garden. (*note: I’m not clumping that many zucchinis and cucs in there…It’s merely the area they will go into.) OH! and those orange blobs are ONIONS. lol.
Oh, and each block in the diagram is one square foot.

I’m fencing in my carrots this year, thanks to my husky dog who seems to have a liking for carrots.
Otherwise I throw in a vegetables in a line, hope somethign grows, weed a bit here and there and usually have a well harvested garden. It may not be the prettiest but at least I get something out of it.

How cool is that! I’ve been contemplating planting some veggies in our yard, but I have to admit I think it’s a little intimidating. I definitely don’t know nuthin bout plantin no garden…I’d love to see how yours turns out though, maybe you’ll inspire me.

Oh yea bigger is better, lol!! Have fun with your garden looks like you guys have a great start.
My only suggestions is be sure to plant the cucumbers near the fence, that way they can climb and grow on the fence.

Another year of envying you your garden is ahead of me! Oh sure, I could plant one- but that would be so much work!
And duct tape can totally save any situation. I was just telling someone about the Honda Civic I once had that was held together with duct tape. I kind of wish I was exaggerating. (I didn’t pass the PA inspection when we moved here.)

Lovin’ the bigger garden! We expand ours almost every year and it still gets to be tight come August. Although if we go much bigger, it might just kill me. Lol.
The garden plan looks great! Last year I drew up a plan but we never ended up following it.

Your plan is so cool. I need to go and check it out. I was hoping my hubs will have time this past weekend to start my garden for me so I can plant, but it didn’t work out.
I am hoping for next week.

Good for you! I haven’t yet got the get up and go to garden. Let me ask you a question: Does that chain-link fence keep the deer out?

I love the layout, your so organized! Lucky for me my husband is like that too, he set all the plants out and got them placed before we actually started digging and putting them in. If it had been up to me and Dylan we would have just started digging holes and hoped it worked!
Yesterday was the field trip from heck so I only just mad it over to Feet Off the Table, hehe. But I will definitely be going the garden club! Do I have to post on Monday or can I link to an earlier post?
