First Farmers Market – Aventine Hill
filed in aventine hill bath emporium on Jul.13, 2009
Middle Child and I set up a booth at a local farmers market for our bath product line…..Aventine Hill. (big sale going on btw…just sayin’)
It was very fun, a mini bonding experience! Everything was set up all pretty-like….we mastered setting up our new tent thingy – in 3 minutes flat.
Our goatsmilk and shea soaps seemed to be a big hit…even with our new friends across the pasture from the market….
And then….approximately one HOUR after the market opened?
Yup! The biggest thunderstorm that we’ve seen in quite a while came roaring through! Our tent held up amazingly well but when the lightening started and the rain was coming in buckets? We called it a morning. I don’t think either one of us ever hauled-ass like that and had so many belly laughs doing it!
All-in-all our first market lasted about an hour. By the time we got home we were sopping wet. But was well worth it.
*No goatsmilk was obtained from this goat for the purpose of soap making.

We’re a little biased towards anything with “Shea” in it around here. Sorry you were rained out so early… next time will be spectacular weather for you, I’m sure!

I used to have a homemade bath & body product company– I miss it sometimes. Do you have cold process soap?

Better luck next time! Sounds like you had fun, anyway, and lots of experience to put to the next occasion. We’re having a thunder and lightning storm with heavy rain as I type…

This sounds like a crazy day. Those booths can be a great way to sell your products, but getting rained out is a real bummer. I hope you have better weather next time. At least you got to practice with your new tent.
