Preparing for College.
filed in High School on Jan.30, 2009
Never in my life could I have imagined that preparing for college (for my child) was going to be so much work. So now that I’ve got one at the end of the process, I thought I’d post this wonderful website so that any of my readers with teenagers can check it out. It’s a wealth of information. Many questions can be answered here at the College Board site. And a direct link within that site for parent is here. In this area you can find motivation articles, action plans for Juniors and Seniors, info on colleges…the list goes on. There’s also a large section for studentswho can receive a lot of answers here! From SAT questions, preparation, info on colleges, a calendar of what you need to do and WHEN, searching for scholarships, etc etc etc….there’s a lot of stuff here!
Also, an easy AND FREE way to complete FAFSA forms for tuition assistance is here, at the FAFSA site. Here, you can also create a pin # so that you and your child can complete the forms and sign them using the pin, online. Good luck and have fun!

fortunately we have a long way to go for mady. we’re saving now and also have a 529 plan set up (which has taken it’s hits with the market).
both sara and i are college grads…but i’m becoming more and more of a skeptic over the actual “business” we so dearly call college.

Wow… college… now there’s a thought I won’t have to deal with for years and years. Although, as quickly as time has passed me by lately, I won’t be surprised if I wake up tomorrow morning, and it’s time for college prep. YIKES!!

Ok, this is so funny that you mention the College Board Website, and I am so glad you did. I work for a college and I have to prepare the huge report to send to college board each year, and I always wondered if anyone actually uses it. So I am glad to see that you do!

I won’t be there for another 10 years but I hope something like this will still be around.
Good luck on all the prep.

How can you be so upbeat and chipper about this? I almost drank myself into a stupor last weekend over that FAFSA stuff. And I still didn’t do it. Just thinking about it did me in.
