Frogger
filed in Pets Past & Present on Aug.31, 2008
My lovely sister bought “Middle Child” tadpoles when she was little. It started out as a really cool experience. We watched these little guys grow into frogs, it was amazing! The lifespan (according to the company) was about 2 years. They don’t reproduce because they are ‘engineered not too’. So we were safe there! And they don’t get any bigger than a half dollar coin.
Seven years later and two spawnings (what are tadpole ‘litters’ called anyhow?) both of them (now the size of a dollar BILL ) finally passed away. From these two frogs came about 100 more tadpoles…but most were eaten by the parents. (ewe!)
My sister now has a little baby of her own and I look forward to returning the favor of educating her child with tadpoles. I hope that same place is still in business!
