When can you tell your boy is becoming a man?  After this conversation:

“When do you have to be at your date’s house for the dance tonight?”

“Um, I don’t know, I’m not sure yet”

“Where are you going before the dance?”

“Uhhhhh, I’m not sure. ”

“Well, what are you doing afterwards?”

“I don’t know.  Actually I don’t know much about any details.  I’m just going to show up.”

*********************** And….this story:

Later that day as he was dressed to the nines for the dance he admitted his shirt was too big.
The new shirt that he bought on his own…..

“How can it be too big?”

“I didn’t try it on at the store!”

“Why not?  This is why I ALWAYS make you try everything on!”

“Well it takes too long! Trying things on is a pain.”

*********************Oh, and wait….this one:

(same day, by the way, as both of the above)

After watching him run cross country on an 80 degree fall day….I walked over to my sweaty son and noticed he was not wearing his track shoes…..but someone else’s……

“Where are your shoes?”

“I lost one of mine.  So I borrowed some other guy’s.”

*See!  He’s well on his way to manhood!  He’s showing all the signs, poor kid*
