Around the World in 80 Clicks
filed in Memes on Apr.06, 2009
I was over at SandierPastures today (from Dubai), and she’s got a meme up that’s pretty interesting. It was started by Catherine of Her Bad Mother and David of It’s Not Lecture. The idea is for moms around the world to share five things that they love about being a mom….. “The World According To Mom: Around the World in 80 Clicks.”
Now, I wasn’t actually tagged for this meme but I don’t care, I’m jumping in anyhow. So here are but 5 reasons that I love being a mom:
1.) I am continually amazed at my kids. From the day they were born to now, as teens, watching them learn, grow and become their own person. To see the wheels in their mind turning and learning. From the first time they walked, their bare feet touching a blade of grass for the first time…that funny feeling and wonderment….to the pride of watching my son grow into a young man and my daughters, young women.
2.) The laughter. I just love the sound of laughter. Thankfully my kids all grew up with a good sense of humor. Our house is filled with jokes and pranks and we are able to ‘find funny’ in many many things! Although each of them have a different sense of humor and are all unique, usually we are pretty much in sync.
3.) I thought when I became a mom, I would be the one teaching them. Funny, as it turns out it just may be the other way around. But then again, maybe that’s the way it’s supposed to be.
4.) This may seem trivial, but I love the fact that my kids know the value of a dollar. lol. Two of mine are old enough to work now and hold jobs (note: in our house, if you want to drive the car, you must hold a job). I feel a wonderful sense of pride that they have jobs. It’s beautiful to watch them bargain hunt with their own money and to sock some away for the future.
5.) In our house we generally don’t sugar coat many things. My kids are pretty much in tune with what’s happening in the world. And they actually want to learn and understand about everything. They are genuinely interested. As a parent I just love this…knowing that they will be a great addition to any community.
Since I wasn’t tagged I’m not sure if I should tag anyone. lol. If you are interested, just jump in!

No worries about the tagging part! Even if I wasn’t tagged, I would jump right in too!
All the things you wrote are true. Being a mom rocks and I think you’re a cool mom. #4 is a good and important one.

You’re the 3rd post today taking part in this, and it’s been wonderful! I love the things you’ve listed, especially since your children are older. Sounds like you’ve done a wonderful job as parent, and it is certainly paying off

I don’t think it is trivial at all that your kids know the value of a dollar. In fact, given that people not knowing the value of a dollar has our economy totally effed up, I think it is fantastic. Well done, Mom!

I think you said it all incredibly well. You’re raising some pretty responsible citizens over there. My kids, for now, get allowances for getting good report card grades. Whatever toys or games they want, they have to save up and pay for. When my daughter saved up for her Nintendo DS was a big day, it definitely made me proud.

Well that’s just disgusting. Your children sound perfect. Compared to some of the kids I know, anyway.

Ooo, me too!
1. I love the hugs. Snuggles are The Best.
2. I love seeing the joy on my husband’s face at having a child.
3. I love having an “excuse” to skip along sidewalks and through parking lots, with Kelly by my side.
4. I love being in “the club” and being able to share those knowing mom nods.
5. I love that I’ll have grand-kids someday. She wants 12 babies! Oy.
