Ron the cable guy
filed in Just a rant on Nov.11, 2008
Okay, so at the end of August our 4 year old Direct tv DVR box went kaput. So for signing on for another 2 years, I got free, new equipment. Finally, we’d now have not one, but two dvr boxes!
Well, the guy came out (I’ll be there by 2, shows at 8 – yes, p.m.) And did his thing. We’ve had issues ever since. So Direct tv, after a weeks worth of trouble shooting over the phone, finally sent someone else out.
In walks…RON THE CABLE GUY. Well, let me just say that Ron was (1.) Raised well…he wore those shoe booties in the house. Very nice, and (2.) Is the only one within the entire county who knows what he is doing.
It took him all of 1 minute to figure out where the problem was and less than an hour to fix it. Turns out, the original guy, taped over frayed cable from the dish to the outside box. And one main line had exposed wires and just barely connected. Duh.
I seriously think that Ron should be training cable/dish people. I can’t tell what company he works for from the paperwork I signed, but maybe if he reads this blog, he’ll post that in the comments. I, for one, will never use another service company other than this one. And I certainly wouldn’t recommend any other.
And yes, Ron if you happen to read this, it is a little creepy to see yourself on someone’s blog but at least I’m posting something good, rather than bad!

Ron totally rocks my socks! I’m so glad someone with brains was sent out to fix it for you.
By the way, kaput, is like one of my favorite words ever. I just love the way it sounds,
kaput, kaput, kaput, kaput
Hm, perhaps I’ve had a tad too much coffee this morning.

This is a post I could and would have made. I love the fact you took his picture too!
Apparently 2 PM really means 2 PM plus 6 hours added!
Thank you for stopping by my blog!

hahaha! I love that someone else takes pictures of their repair guys too. I have one but want to wait for him to totally finish with my house before posting. Oh, and I think you should get a prize for being the only person to actually tell me exactly what was in your pockets. You go girl!

Go RON. Woo hoo. It’s so hard to find reliable tech help, I swear. Don’t even get me started on my AT&T issues, the best service person we had so far was a middle aged mom with a tool belt. She was the man!

Glad someone with the right expertise came to solve the problem. Companies should invest more on training their people well to promote customer satisfaction.

I wish I had a Ron.
Actually we are with Time Warner now as any dish we ever had gave us grief. Hope you have better luck!
