The Dance of the Tall Bushes

This was a part of the storm that rolled through here Sunday evening.   Very wicked but relaxing!  Lot’s of damage out and about the area though.  (only 55 seconds worth)

And have I mentioned I love the ease of my new photo and video plug in on my blog?  Easy-peasy!

Garden Monday….and…
Alien seed pods or mold?

Monday Garden Club .

It’s Garden Monday at Feet Off The Table!

Well.  I didn’t kill anything this week.  So that’s a good sign. Seein’ as I was too cheap to buy bird netting as everyone recommended last week, I instead ran a piece of fishing string from one side of the garden to the other and put a noisy-clangy aluminum pan in the middle.  It moves with the wind and has kept those pesky birds from devouring my sweet baby cucumber plants.    There still is the gaggle of feathered friends sitting along the top of the garden fence everrrry morning….looking around.  Seeing what they can get into.  So here’s what’s what in the veggie garden this week:  *click to enlarge*

And here are prettyful colors blooming this week elsewhere in my yard.  *click to enlarge*

And this?  I’m not sure what this is.  But if you poke it, it’s a jelly like substance inside.   Shane thinks it might have started out as deer puke….or…it’s mold.  I’m pretty certain that it is an alien pod of some sort that will in time hatch something small and green with large eyes.  Anyone have any ideas on this one?

Road Trip – Arizona to Ohio (Home!)

The story of our 2006 road trip.  The conclusion, the finale.  *sigh*  All previous posts here.

While in Arizona, we had to see the Grand Canyon.  I mean, duh.   Of course, like the little goofy things that happened up until this point, we did have one glitch.   Part of the Grand Canyon was….of course…on FIRE.   So…we went to the South Rim, which was just beautiful!  I kept thinking of the Brady Bunch and remember a LOT of the scenery from that show right there in front of us!

Here we are by one of the VERY FEW guard rails in the Grand Canyon.  OMG.  Scary stuff man!

I loved exploring all the ancient Indian sites in the park.    The feeling of history and past civilization is all encompassing there.

I’ll tell you, the incredibly vast beauty in the United States is simply amazing.

And, of course, I pretty much spent the entire time with a knot in my stomach and constantly repeating the phrase….”Get away from the edge.  You are too close to the edge!”

Shane after two weeks of hearing..."stop looking at me"....."I want to sit in the 'way back seat''..."so-in-so is mean"...."I can't help it I'm tired"...."that's not fair"...."when are we gonna get there"....and about a bajillion other fun family vacation phrases...over the course of 2 weeks. If I weren't afraid of heights, I would have been right there with him. lol AND, the thought had crossed my mind to give a little push. Hmmmm, then I wouldn't have to drive with him and his ass-hat on the way home. But then I'd be stuck by myself with three teens. *what to do, what to do* I let him live.

After the Grand Canyon, we went back to our hotel in Sedona and then left for home the next day.   On the way home we stopped and saw The Petrified Forest and The Painted Desert.

On the exit from the Petrified Forest was a gift shop (because you cannot steal the rocks, it’ll upset the balance… although, they’ll gladly sell you all sorta of sizes and shapes of them!)    Inside there was  this rather large sign, as a glimmer of hope….something to look forward to for weary travelers and their kids on summer vacations.

We drove through New Mexico (we definitely want to see New Mexico next time!),  Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Indiana and finally home!

Thanks for reading about our road trip/adventure!  It was an amazing trip, glitches, attitudes and all!
