How to hide an entire turkey.

So I was driving up our street the other day….upon approaching my house I see a neighbors car in our driveway.   Haven’t seen or talked to him in years.    I parked along the road and walked up the drive as he was getting into his car.   My husband was holding a package and the neighbor guy looks at me with furled brow and says…”I brought over something that you had sent to my address.  Something you ordered online”  (as if it were something secret I was hiding from the hubs…he totally thought I was busted or something.)

I knew exactly what it was!    You all know I’m now hooked on prAna after I got their heavenly yoga pants….this time the package contained a pretty 100% organic cotton summer top!  Now being a mom…and mom’s know this….we don’t get a lot of new things.   When there is extra cash that usually means someone will be in need of a pair of shoes or is about to come down with the croup.  Such is the life of a mom.    New clothes to me are hand me downs from my sister in law….and lately….my own daughter.   (See, I DO buy myself stuff….it just is used by someone else FIRST!  lol)

Anyhow, I got the little prAna tinglies as I opened the package!   There is something about having the product tag safety pinned to the garment.  I don’t know, it just feels special.   I carefully unpinned the tag and layed the shirt on the bed and ran my fingers across the oh-so-soft material.   Then I picked it up, held it close to my chest, took a whiff and sighed a little sigh.  Something new.  Something pretty!  *for ME*

Just like with the yoga pants, I was at first leery when ordering the size small.  Since I don’t EVER wear a small.  But the lady assured me…my measurements meant small at prAna.  *I love them.*   Something about that just makes me feel happy.  It fit perfect….I was amazed.  It just flowed right over me like a wispy little breeze.   Like when you get into the bed with fresh soft sheets….that’s how it felt.  At times it felt as if I didn’t have anything on at all it was that comfortable.

And I love the style.  What do you call this style?   I don’t know, but I swear to God I could eat an entire turkey wearing this top and you’d never ever know it. It just covers bumps!  I did a little photo shoot of me and my new best friend prAna top.   Some were pretty funny….like when the shutter snapped the pic at the exact time a bee flew in my face.   Or this one…which Middle Child insisted my pose looked so funny that she should photoshop me onto a fake runway.  I’m so glad I can still humor my teens.  Smartie pants.

Anywhoooo….me and my new friend spent the day together.  We gardened, grilled, went to the store and did lots of errands.   And it’s a beautiful thing when…at age 45…I can still turn a head.   Is it the prAna wear?  I don’t know.  But it doesn’t happen in my hand-me-downs.  *clears throat*  Just sayin.  It’s also nice at 45 that I have found clothing that is not old lady-ish!  Why do stores do that to us?  I mean come on!  At 45 we want to wear pretty and fashionable things!  We’re not dead yet…stop putting lines of clothes out that are for MUCH older people.   Well….at any rate…I think I’ve found my new line.   All I have to do is feed my girls a little more so that they cannot wear my new stuff.    Don’t think I don’t see them eying out my new threads!

What do you think of my new prAna and tell me…are you also sick of what stores offer to moms as ‘fashion’?

You know you’re a mom (even a bird mom) when you take care of the neighbor’s kids too!

.
The most amazing thing has happened!   A mom and dad chipping sparrow have for some reason taken another bird under their wing.  We watch them daily as the big baby (as we’ve named Baby Huey Bird) chirps and chirps for food and waits til the surrogate parents fly over to feed him.  It’s really the sweetest thing!  I don’t know if somehow this Baby Huey egg was hatched in the wrong nest or what the circumstance is that these *way* smaller bird parents came to raise this larger baby.  We’ve been watching for about 2 weeks and it’s no less amazing day after day.

These are the best pics I’ve been able to get out of the 500 or so that I’ve tried to get.  *ughhhh*  I feel for those National Geographic photogs that spend years trying to get one good shot.  Plus the fact that my neighbors think I’m insane hiding in bushes with my camera.

*this post sorta ties in with my post on Compassion on my Wellness blog.

Garden Monday

It’s been very hot here, in the high 80′s and 90′s the rest of this week. Not much is new with my garden this week except a few little buds (or whatever they’re called) starting to pop out here and there. My tomatoes? STILL green! My gosh! I think it’s been about a month and they are still green. And even though it looks like I have not watered in the onion pic…I did. 5 minutes before this shot was snapped. That’s how hot it is right now, lol.

I love the look of the water drops on the broccoli leaves. (Yes, my life IS exciting. lol) And, does anyone know if this last pic is a cantelope plant? I planted them here and this is what’s growing. But it could be a weed. I don’t know.
