Playing catch up and exciting news!

Lots and lots has been going on over here lately.  First of all, I’ve published my very first book and I’m SO excited!  It’s titled ZEN-SATIONAL LIVING.   If you wanna check it out or pre-order it, just click on that pic of the book to the right.   (it’s also going to be available on Amazon in about a week!)  I’ve also spruced up and renamed my wellness blog

Then, the other day I got a call and I have been invited to be one of three Northeast Ohio mom bloggers to be a Chevy Mom in the Gotta Love Chevy campaign that is going on.   So what this means is that I am given a new Chevy Traverse to take home and drive for the month of November.  You’ll be seeing a couple posts weekly here on my site, and also on the Chevy site..containing updates on my experiences.   They are also sending me on weekly ‘missions’….so very mom-bond like.  lol.   Oh, and did I mention they also giving me a Flip video camera?  Um yeah.  *grin*.

Let’s see….my garden is still producing stuff.  Yes, I know, it’s gotten into the 30′s at night here, so I’m not sure how long that will last.   The wind storm the other day blew a lot down and cracked stems of plants.  I can’t wait to see where all the new tomato plants pop up next season…since I’ve got a few smashed tomatoes here and there and everywhere from the storm.  My broccoli all flowered.  I was going to cut it all down the other day….but there were like a bazillion bees all gathering pollen on the flowers, and well, I’m not messin with no bees.  (btw, isn’t that flowering broccoli pretty???)

Alan finished his cross country season with a personal best 5K time of 25:01.  I really enjoyed this whole running thing.  Well, not that I ran, but I did enjoy watching.  MC is going to be in a school play in a couple weeks and Kaylee is going on a college outreach trip during November to help the homeless in DC.

Someone painted the sky.

Check out this beautiful sky after a storm rolled through last night! The rainbow was full, but by the time I got out there I couldn’t get a good enough shot. By the way, my other blog got a makeover, a new name and a new FB page. Please check it out or fan me on FB. *smiles* (new and EXCITING things will be happening this week over there!!!)

The Biggest Yule Log Ever

.

.

.

Years ago, we bought a house to flip and one major project was having 6 pines, 3 HUGE Pin Oaks and some miscellaneous trees cut down.

It was a huge undertaking and we literally spent weeks splitting the oak for our fireplace.  We stored it in that garage and took it home, a couple truck loads daily.  It lasted us about 3 years of burning a nightly fire in the winter months.

The pine was given to people who burn outside fires as it can’t be burned inside.

This one big giant white oak trunk went to my dad, who would dry it out and have the mill cut it into planks.  It took awhile but we did finally jack it up and get it onto the little trailer and pulled it home.

I can assure you we had many people pointing at us, with stunned looks on their faces as they quickly tried to get around us in case that log (which was swaying side to side) slid off!

It sat at home, in our driveway, for a while and it gave us the idea for that years Christmas Card, “Bedrock, 2005 BC”.  Eventually this bad boy made it’s way from Cleveland to Wooster.
