It’s Garden Monday over at Feet Off The Table.
The last few months were hectic with the grad party and all. I didn’t think I’d have a garden this year.
The other day I told Shane that I was running out to pick up some groceries, get some starter plants and start a container garden. By the time I got home, he had the old dirt turned over and almost ready to go!
Either he really does love me… or he totally lied when he said he hates zucchini.
I don’t know how much these bags of dirt weighed but they were a real biznatch to lift into the Jeep. I asked myself a couple questions when loading these:
1. Why doesn’t Sears have a guy there to help load this crap?
2. When was the last time I seriously exercised?
3. Why am I paying $7 for a bag of dirt?
So I came home and decided I wasn’t lifting those again. I called for the boy, “Oh boooy…I need your brute strength… come outside”

Me faking a shoulder injury

The boy lifting the bag

Me laughing at said boy.
I got the new dirt worked in, the plants planted and now I’m just waiting for the harvest.

I don’t have nearly as much of a variety as I did last year, but it is what it is. I’ve got squashes in front with room to grow this year (not enough I know, don’t judge), cucumbers in the back row to grow up the fence, a couple tomatoes, a couple broccoli, and red and yellow peppers.
