Conversations With a 16 Year Old

On the way to school to take finals in math.

“I don’t know why, but I have a nervous stomach this morning.”

“Nervous about the final?”

“No, I’m feeling like this will be rather serendipitous”

*blink… blink blink*  “Serendipitous?”

“Yes, my final grade will be serendipitous.  A happy accident.   I believe in karmic synergy, you know.”

(where’s my kid and what have you done with her?)

Today A Boy Learned How To Do Laundry

maviefolle-563In our house, I have a couple rules.  One is that I *generally* don’t nag about the condition of their rooms.  It’s their space.

Another is that I will wash the clothes that are put down the chute.  I don’t ‘gather’ up clothes and wash them.  If you want clean fresh clothes, put them down the chute, or wash them yourself.

Today I had enough.   Apparently the reason a certain someone didn’t have any clean socks…or anything else for that matter….is that they were all on his FLOOR.

The good news?  I found a lovely hardwood floor under all this!  :)

*In case you’re curious?  6 loads.  Six.

A beautiful day at the cemetery.

MC and I went driving today to practice for her drivers test.    So you all get to view some cemetery pics.  (If you are new here and unsure why I teach my kids to drive in a cemetery, please click here.)  Here’s some interesting pics from todays  near death experience   lesson.maviefolle-344maviefolle-348      maviefolle-352
The first pic makes me sad and happy at the same time.  The second is a shot of the ‘baby section’.  (We pay our respects to the babies when we visit, because they are so often forgotten) This is a large section, going back to the little building behind the trees on the left.  Many died of influenza in the early 1900′s.

MUTTER. ? Does anyone know if this means ‘mother’ in a different language?

Okay and this picture?  Well, MC was asking the other day, “How does it work when a man and woman are married for a long time and one dies and the other gets remarried?   What happens when they all die?”

Well, um, this is what happens.  lol.  (These are relatives).  Huh, talk about a big family rift????  George and Betty were married happily.  Betty passed.  Esther then married George.   Esther was shunned by George’s family.   In the end…Esther got the last word.

And here are a couple shots of beautiful monuments.  I almost had to lay on the ground to get the first shot…but I thought better of laying on the ground in a cemetery.  I almost had to lay on the ground to get this in the frame. (But I don't lay on the ground in cemeteries!) maviefolle-346
