Some are worth noting just in case you haven’t seen them yet. These are the few that were so good, I have to recommend them:

The Bucket List
.
Oh Lord, why did I wait so long to see this movie? The story of two polar opposites who meet, not in the prime of their life but as they are both dying of terminal illness. At a time when most of us would give up or not know what to do…these two went on a quest to live dreams, find joy and peace and in turn found themselves. A beautiful message, a beautiful movie. You’ll laugh and you will cry. My favorite line? “Never trust a fart”.

Where in the World Is Osama Bin Laden?
Ahhh, from the guy who brought us Super Size Me…Morgan Spurlock. (thank you Morgan…we eat 99% LESS fast food thanks to that movie).     Anyhow, this one is INCREDIBLE.     One man’s quest to find the most wanted man in the world by traveling to the spots he’d most likely find him in.

An eye opening journey documented from start to finish.    A peak into the lives and minds of people from the other side of the world.   In true Spurlock fashion…you’ll come away with knowledge from this movie.   It’s funny.   It’s touching.   Most of all it’s very enlightening and informative for the viewer.   We watched this with our teens and everyone remained focused and interested. (a feat in itself).    I came away thinking that this film would be a great one for schools to show in history class…with the exception of an occasional F-bomb in there.  And certainly for everyone in general to spend a mere 90 minutes watching.    Very well done.

Raise Your Voice
starring Hilary Duff. Want a movie that ‘safe’ to watch with your teen or tween? This is the one. No uncomfortable sex scenes made me squirm or reach for the remote. A beautiful story about a family struggling with tragedy and pain. A real type family. Through it all a young woman finds her voice and goes against her fathers wishes to follow her dream of attending an elite arts/music school. It came with a message for kids stressing the importance of following your heart, your dreams….and for parents that our children’s dreams are just as important and real as our own.

Yes Man (Single-Disc Edition)
with Jim Carrey.   OMG, funny movie!  Yet, again…such a great message in this one!  The tale of a man who is missing out on so much in life because he’s afraid to take chances…but a seminar changes his life and he learns that by just saying ‘yes’ to things…events in his life start to turn around.  Great movie!

Marley and Me
Okay, first off, DO NOT watch this movie if you recently lost a dog.  Say like in the last couple YEARS.  Honestly.  This movie, although it had a lot of  funny parts…and showed great antics of an unruly yet beloved family dog….had a very gripping ending.  Heart wrenching.  We watched it as a family and each of us were dripping alligator tears by the end.   I can say that the ending was extremely beautiful in the way it was done and very true to life, in fact, our family went through a very similar scenario when our own dog passed 5 years ago.   This film brought all that back in a very real way.  A little too real maybe.
