Garden Monday
Now I’m cookin!

Monday Garden Club .

It’s Garden Monday at Feet Off The Table!
.

Lot’s of happenings in the garden this week.  My lettuce.  Oy vey.   The seed packet clearly says iceberg lettuce with a picture of a HEAD of lettuce on it.   Well.  No heads here.  I ended up ripping these out of the garden since they were going to seed!

My cucumbers are just climbing all over the place.  Mostly up the fence.  I even found one that grew into a pea plant.

I picked quite a few things this week, just look at this beautiful head of cabbage!

And the cauliflower is no longer tiny but ready for pickin!

I even made a roasted veggie dish!  Not a tiny one, this one fed the whole family.

The next day I made stuffed cabbage and had enough for 11 rolls plus a pan of sauteed cabbage and zucchini in an onion and sweet butter sauce.

I had to thin out my zucchini’s as they were too crowded.  I never knew just how big zucchini plants got.  So I pulled out every other one.   The ones left were yelling in their tiny little green voices…..Air!  Sun!  Thank you!  And within a couple days, they have a lot of good new regrowth!

  1. My grandfather always said you could tell which people in the neighborhood had a backyard garden… they were the ones who’d offer you a zucchini daiquiri when you stopped by.

    Hope you’re not overrun.

  2. Look at you and all your garden goodness! Impressed!

I planted a couple of seedlings in pots and have had disappointing results. My strawberries turned out to be cucumbers, I think, although they never grew cucumbers and my parsley couldn’t garnish one plate. Basil, though? Coming out the ass. At least I can grow something.

  4. When I look at your pictures I feel so bad about my own garden. For some reason this wasn’t my year for a good produce. The tomatoes are doing great, but that’s about it.

  5. Not sure what the secret to growing Cauliflower is but I certainly don’t have it! Care to share? Mine finally got big but they are NOT edible and make the whole garden smell like a big fart. Time to pull them out and put them on the compost pile!

Um yeah, zucchinis need a TON of room and it seems no matter how much you give them, it’s never enough. Same with tomatoes…

  9. that is awesome!

we are still waiting for cucumbers, they are about as long as a little finger and are just as stuborn about preforming any thing above a “pinkie out” while drinking a cup of tea.

  16. Our poor garden needs to be shot and put out of its misery. The heat and drought has not been kind to it this year.
