Who needs roughage when you’ve got a teen driver?

Okay. So. There is nothing like a teenager driving in the snow for the first time on WAY TOO snowy roads to clear out your bowels. Forget the roughage, just give your kid a set of car keys. Uhhh, I thought I was nervous when she drove alone the first time? *laughs manically*

This is WAY worse.

The snow itself is that light fluffy crap they put in snow globes.  I mean, that’s how it looks.   It’s very pretty-ful.

It makes for a quick shoveling.  Although when your scooping up snow drifts well over a foot high, it kinda feels like work.

Shane took her out driving last night to “practice” skidding.  Which really doesn’t happen ‘as’ bad with ABS.   He’d tell her…’Okay, go real fast!…..”Now STOP!”

She got to come out of a slide several times, so I hope to God she remembers this on her way to school this morning.  And I hope she remembers to text me on arrival.  I told Alan to text me and he said, “Okay, but I’m probably going to forget”.    (that whole ‘man thang’)

Okay, so I’m off to the toilet to wait for my text message.

*update: Alan DID text me!   “Safe but irked”
Then Middle Childs text:  “The roads were scary. On our street I slipped a 180 :(   ”
Then:                                               “And my shoes are soaking wet!”

  1. Riding with a teen learning to drive is an extreme sport, imo. Parents need to be supplied with a helmet and a valium. I’m glad he is safe and you are regular now.

    Namaste

  5. I remember freaking out about this when they drove to school. Part of it is that they’re not the only ones on the road and I don’t trust other people either!

  6. It is scary driving in the snow. I’ve been in FL for over 25 years, I doubt I could do it well anymore. I worry about heavy rain, and fog and just other drivers.
Nothing like that “at school” text………we’re only a couple of miles away, and yet I breathe a little easier each day when I get it.
Hope you are feeling all cleaned out now! ha ha!

  12. Oh no!! I have to admit that this post made me laugh!
She is so blessed to have a daddy that will take her out to practice spinning out. I never had that so I didn’t know what to do if I did loose control. Thankfully my husband has taken me out on our land and helped me not be so scared of losing control – it is really quite terrifying.

I hope the snow goes away soon. I am so ready for warmer weather already

  13. The reason the South loves snow is that everything is CALLED OFF and everyone stays home. As a consequence, no one learns to drive in the snow… also, hills make it especially terrifying!

I realized when I read your post: I’ve never been in a car with my daughter in the snow! Thank God! (LOL–and she’s 25 now! LOL)

  14. Holy cow, I would’ve been a hot mess. Did she really slip a 180? Can’t you just home school until the Spring? ;) Kidding aside, hope she’s staying safe and that you can finally pry yourself from the commode.
