Okay.  So.  (why do I normally start out with that?)  Anyhow….I was asked to do a review for eyeglasses.    Maybe someone thought I wasn’t seeing things clearly, I dunno.   But it was sorta weird because one day Middle Child asked me….”Mom…how much would a new pair of glasses for me, cost?”   Since money is tight I told her that they’d be expensive and ‘we’ll see’ about getting a new pair….but no time soon.   And then a day or so later…BAM…I’m contacted about reviewing a new pair of glasses – my choice.   Holy crap, how’s that for the universe listening?

Anywhoooo….so I immediately thought of my kid who was ‘hinting’ (or ‘curious’ as she prefers to think of it) and she picked out a pair of prescription glasses from the online site at GlassesUSA.com.   It took her quite awhile because the selection is pretty vast.   And she is afterall 17.  And a girl.  So not just any ol pair would do.  She’s got an image to uphold you know.  (duh!)

So the eyeglass frames themselves were narrowed to 2-3 and she finally settled on one.  And these were the one’s she picked.

Now, unfortunately for Glasses USA, the person receiving these is the only one who refuses to have her face shown on this blog (she’s gonna be a star one day and doesn’t want me to embarrass her – remember?)  But, I did get this shot showing the cool side of the glasses!

Okay, so enough with the nuts and bolts and on to the important part! So she puts the glasses on and guess what?  She can see perfectly!  Of course, they were made according to the prescription that she got last year at the eye doctor…so um, let’s HOPE they work, right?   The lenses were a bit larger than her original pair so the whole fit and feel was new.   Then something ‘odd’ transpired.  She asked her sister to go up to the park with her and take photos of the falling snow.  SAY WHAT? This would be to-ge-ther at the park.   She put those glasses on and suddenly didn’t see her older sister as the beast she thought she was.    Hmmmm.   Maybe these are ’special’ glasses.  Maybe they are magical.   But they came home still speaking. Middle Child said….’You know?  These glasses come across great on camera!’   Spoken by a true budding actress.

OMG. Then THIS happened:

She (#1) made her and her sister hot chocolate.  And (#2) they didn’t even throw it at each other!  They drank it together.   Shane says that this is good news because if THIS can happen????……Surely the Israeli’s and Palestinians can live in peace.   All they need is hot chocolate.   (and maybe…I’m thinkin….new glasses.)

*footnote:
Okay, I swear to GOD that I’m not making this up….but I was just going over the company literature and I’m not kidding you….they have two locations:  New Jersey and….drumroll….ISRAEL!   I’m totally serious!   How odd is that?   Also, I think it’s worth noting that these glasses seem to be made very well and sturdy and they are very inexpensive.   Really!  In fact, I was amazed at how nicely they are made considering the cost.   The style she picked was ‘Congress’ and they were like $61.   I KNOW! And this was one of the more expensive pairs on the website.
