My Yoga Diary ~ This hurts just looking at it.

Yes, it’s been a while since I’ve posted on my yoga happenings.   But I have, in fact, been practicing yoga faithfully now for months.   I did get the yoga mat that I asked for for Christmas.   To touch it and lay it out…it’s like mapping out my own personal space on the floor.  *warm fuzzy sigh*

Yesterday I was poking around the net checking out some new poses, and found this one.   It’s the Crane Pose.   All five of us were sitting in the living room and I presented this photo.

“Oh, I can do that!”  Shane said.   *yeah right….*

I explained that it looks like her knees are pressed up into her arm pits!  I tried it and said, “Oh, there is NO way!”

We all tried it over and over,  some ending up doing a somersault but mostly we ended up laughing hysterically at our inabilities to do this pose.

Have YOU ever done this pose? I bet right now you are contemplating trying it aren’t you?  (be careful!)

  4. I think her legs are resting on her arms. And no, there is no way I could do that. Not even when I was 18 and limber could I have done that.

  5. I have tried a million times! I’ve even watched youtube video tutorials hoping it would make it easier but I can’t hold it for more than a second:( This is sad but I can’t even do a crouch–my heels just won’t touch the floor without me rolling backwards!

  12. That would really take some strength and control. I know I’d fall on my face!

  13. if I tried my bottom would pull me back.. you have to have some serious strength in your arms and your butt can’t be as big as mine.

  16. Yes, yes I have…right after my last surgery in Dec. it was a bit hard to do, but bygolly (1 word?) this is how I felt, tied in a weird knot afraid to move cause I would surely fall and crack my seat.
I think that photo is shopped.

  19. Hi, this is the first time I’ve visited your blog (from a link on Jingle’s page), and I just wanted to stop and give you some feedback. Amazing blog, first of all, and I, TOO LOVE YOGA!!! I try to do it every so often that I can. The crane pose is almost impossible–unless you stretch hours a day–and whenever I try it, I instantly fall right over…It’ll take me months to reach that level of flexibility and upper body strenght. But so what? I would SO love to master that pose!

Good luck to you as well,
    Rania Abuisnaineh

  20. LOL! I love your family. They sound like so much fun. I am trying to picture all of you trying to do that pose. It is so great that all of you enjoy each other so much!
