Watching her drive away.
filed in Teen Driving on Nov.07, 2009
There are things in life that make us squeal with delight, marvel at milestones, embrace growth and change and at the same time
make our stomachs turn and nerve endings twitter with angst.
This is a great example: MC got her drivers license and with that comes the request for the keys, the sudden interest in running errands and the moment when you watch your child pulling out of the driveway…on her own.
My heart raced. I felt excited, nervous and a little sick all at once.
It’s so hard letting your kids go and trusting them to make good choices. This, the first of many involving the lives of others. *sigh*
Who needs a colon cleanse when you have teenagers?
If you need me…I’ll be sitting on the toilet.

Oh man, my heart is racing and my bowels are gurgling just reading this post! I keep hoping by the time my kids are teenagers, they’ll have raised the driving age to 18! Good luck to you BOTH!

If you were anything like me, you pulled a chair right up to that window and waited until she got home. Oh never mind, you were on the toilet.

Oh how I’m not really looking forward to that time when Princess Nagger reaches driving age. I’d REALLY like to find that ‘pause’ button now.

Gosh, I guess I’ve been following you for a year, because I remember when your daughter got her permit and discussing her driving etc. Time does fly, and yes it’s nerve racking when they drive away!

I just hope that by the time my daughter is driving we have those automated flying cars science fiction has been predicting for 50 years. Because I will be a hot mess watching my daughter drive away.

First off, way to go MC! I can’t imagine the anxiety that comes when kids drive off for the first time. I got the nervous runs when my kids hopped on the school bus for the first time!

OMG. OMG. OMG. OMG, watching her drive away I’d have puked and peeded my pants, not necessarily in that order.
