Harry Fever
filed in Raising Teenagers on Jul.18, 2009
Harry Potter Fever has hit our household! My kids all went together to see the midnight showing on opening day. Middle Child bought temporary hair color (the 28 day variety) to get the Ginny Weasley look. Her friend donned a head scar and became Potter him her self. Alan bet MC that she couldn’t speak with a British accent for an entire week….And by the next day, I paid her a dollar to STOP it.

And, funny, long lines didn’t concern them…they brought cards and played while waiting with the other nuts fanatics. I’m sure they all felt ‘powerful’ walking through the front door at 3:45 am…a once in a (teen) lifetime opportunity.
This is the following morning when Middle Child (face covered of course) and her friend decided to see it again. Her friend is Harry (well, she’s not hairy…she’s Harry, lol) and MC is a quidditch player.

That is funny how some kids can really get into stuff like that. I’ve never seen any of those movies or read any of the books.

Fun. We’re still a couple of books behind. My son didn’t get into HP until this past year.

Shea and I went to see it on Friday. After the movie, he told me the only reason he accepted the offer was because he was kind of hungry and knew I’d buy him snacks. He also told me I was on my own for the last two movies, because they’re just too scary now. I’m hoping he’ll forget it was scary and fall for my offer of nachos again in 2010.

I have yet to read a Harry Potter Book but I think I will get the first one and start reading it to my oldest son. He is six so I am don’t think he is ready for the movies.
I featured you on my blog today..Shout Out Sunday.
I also featured Aventine Hill and will be placing an order sometime today…I’m in Canada and asked you a while back if you’d ship and you said yes…does that still hold?
Talk to you soon.

My husband and I went to see it last night and I LOVED it. It’s my favorite one since the first. We’ve read all the books forever ago and I plan to give them to the kiddos when they are at an age in which they can truly appreciate them.
I bet it is so much fun to get to actually take your kids to see the movies in the theater. Love Middle Child’s Ginny colored hair.

I’m a big Harry Potter fan, but I will wait a couple of weeks to go see this one. I just can’t do the crowds. How fun for your kids, though!
