You know? When I first started blogging, I wrote a lot about Murphy’s Law and how it applied to my life. Laughing about it and accepting it. Then I took on a whole new attitude and decided to stop letting that bum, Murphy into my life. And it worked! Things took a nice turn and oddly have been going great!
Until this week. Ughhh.
Friday. Found out I can not get in early to decorate our city rec center (hall) I rented for next Friday. Some special new rule they have. (Crabby wench tells me I’d have to arrive with my guests). My contract says I get 1/2 hr before to arrive. But they say the contract signed by me & them is incorrect. Very long story short…I’m now getting my 1/2 hour set up time. ;O)
Saturday. Propane tank I got 6 weeks ago ran out in the MIDDLE of cooking burgers! Dangit!
Monday. Found out someone was using my credit card # online to have some fun.
Tuesday. *Pool alkalinity too high. Dumb young pool girl says to put in 12 lbs alkalinity increaser. Now ph is through the roof and won’t lower. Back to buy more chemicals. Wait…is that their plan? Just keep coming in and spend $$$
*Found out the hall (above) we rented for THIS Friday has NO A/C. (This after being told that it DID have air and would be on before we got there.) Temps expected to be 80+. With 100+ people.
*Isn’t it funny how you’re really not that hot until you turn on your a/c for the first time and it’s…. b r o k e n? (I KNOW! G A S P! ) We were priding ourselves on the fact that it’s been 85 for a week and we haven’t put the air on yet….until now. Nothing, nadda, silence. All of a sudden we’re sweating…can’t sleep and even though it’s the same temp as the last week…we are now dying from the heat…tongues hanging out….seeing mirages of palm trees in our backyard. (A few years ago…we froze to death when our thermostat broke. It was showing 35 degrees when in fact it was 72. The heating guy came in and questioned why we were wearing coats in the house when it was 72 on his thermometer.)
Wednesday. I finally downloaded Internet Explorer 8. What a mutha flippin waste of time. They tout these new upgrades and then they SUCK. Now almost every other website I visit…including MY OWN…gives me an error message!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Operation Aborted!) There’s some glitch in IE 8 that doesn’t run or read some scripts (or some crap like that). I’ve tried a couple suggested fixes…and still….crap. And it seems to be with any site that has Google Friend Connect. So I’m switching to Firefox. Which btw is so much better than IE.
Anyone else having issues with the ‘new and improved Internet Explorer 8′? What a bunch of shit.
I'm Sheila. In addition to raising 1 husband and 3 teens, I've founded

Firefox is great but it has its problems too, of course. All kinds of weird firewall stuff; be forewarned. But better than most of the alternatives, IMHO.
Just imagine what’s in store for tomorrow… Sorry things are a bummer!
ohhh I hate when I run out of propane. And to top it off I have no idea how to remove the tank at all.
Hope this week is better.

I changed over to firefox several months ago, and I haven’t had any issues, it is fast and has been good to me…LOL.
You are having all kids of crap woman! I’d be livid with a rental hall with such narrow parameters of being flexible and working with you, the person paying for it.
I’ve got to try to figure this out………where do you live again? I’m in FL, my A/C has been on since late April and will sadly be on til late Oct, but I use very little heat. Try to stay cool.
Things have to get better!

go FIREFOX!
I had IE8 once… hated it! I’m currently using IE7, but still have that same problem with some blogger blogs. So I really think it’s blogger & not IE. But I could be wrong.
The problem has only started in the last month or so, but I can’t comment on most of my blogs, because of it.
Oh crap I just downloaded it yesterday!! I haven’t really played with it yet, I hope I don’t have problems. Though I use firefox at work and love it.
Yup, this is why we have TWO propane tanks! We’ve run out of gas WAY TOO MANY TIMES in the past, so we finally sucked it up and got another.

Sounds like you are having a rough week. I hope your party goes well even though you won’t have any air conditioning. That must stink!
Internet Explorer is not a good web browser period. I don’t think it has anything to do with your blogging platform. I’ve always had problems withd IE even when I am visiting websites that are not blogs. I hope you enjoy Firefox. It is so much better.

Only 84, sounds like spring to me, my car temp says 102 to 105 everyday this week when I head home. I’m so excited we have 20 percent chance of rain this afternoon. We have been having drought conditions and my little city has banned watering the yard, washing cars etc. except between 10pm & 4am. I say we should have a midnight car wash and rake in the dough…but who wants see an old lady in a nightgown wash cars?

We’re a Firefox house, never any troubles. (Fingers crossed, knocking on wood)
There’s something to be said for mind over matter. I need a fake thermometer for my husband, he is always crazy hot, maybe I could trick him and I could stop wearing sweaters around the house in the middle of summer.

Your nephew-in-law, Brucie, works at Metropolitan Pool. He can probably help you with that whole pH issue. then again, he might not be any better than dumb young pool girl.

I’m having the exact same problem with Internet Explorer 8. I can’t even read my own blog. I tend to use Firefox anyway, but some of my readers may use IE. My problems seem to be related to Google Friend Connect as well, but since I have people joining using that feature and following my blog with it via the Blogger dashboard, I don’t want to delete it. Maybe I need some disclaimer at the top of my blog like “Best Viewed in Firefox.”
