In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day to take it easy and look forward to the weekend. I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life
My Question:
“What scares you more…your own teenager driving…or them driving with another new driver? ”
My Answer: I thought it was my OWN kid driving…until I was asked the dreaded question…”Can I go with ‘so-in-so’, she’s allowed to drive herself !” Talk about being on pins and needles. Ughhhh.
I'm Sheila. In addition to raising 1 husband and 3 teens, I've founded

I was very scared when my sons were new drivers.

I am equally terrified of both! And I don’t have a teenager!

I trusted my sons it was the other drivers that scared me
My daughter is 15 not driving yet. I do not think I will worry about her driving, she says “think I’ll be like a little old lady”. It will be the others driving her!! Just don’t trust other teen drivers. Sometime she comes home with some crazy stories of teen drivers from school. So I will worry more about the riding with another driver.

They are both very scary thoughts. I’m so not ready for my teen to drive–eek!

It’s a bit off in the future for us, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be more afraid of other kids driving. I also worry about other drivers in general.

I’ve been through both and I must say that I trust my own kids way more than the others.
Probably them driving with a new driver… but I have a LONG time before I have to worry about that! *whew!*
My kids are still little so this isn’t something I have to deal with yet. I think it will be a little bit of both though!

I HOPE that I taught my son well (it appears so when we’re in the car together) when it comes to driving – so I will say riding with another teen driver scares me more.

Actually neither scare me, of course I worry about the safety on my sons, but I do not worry too much about the driving.
Well we are a ways off from that yet but I think I would be more scared of them drivng with someonelse lol
I am always a nervous passenger myself so I can only imagine I will be worse with my kids!

Both… My daughter is still a few years away but I have thought about it alot over the last few months.. We live right down the road from a high school and well I have seen things that have made me want to follow the kid home and have a talk with the parents..

Definitely my kids driving with new drivers. I will know that my boys are safe enough to be on their own, but never will know about their future friends. Good luck!

No driving kids yet but probably more scared of them riding with other kids. Too many distractions.

I am a ways away from those days…but I think I fear the other kids more than I fear my own behind the wheel!
Is there a third option where I lock my kid in a tall tall tower and not let them out until they’re 30? I would probably worry more about their friends being behind the wheel, but either way I’m pretty sure I’m getting an ulcer…
I think other kids would cause me more worry than my own kid. Since, I know that my kids will not be driving until they have passed a driver’s ed course.

I guess we’re pretty-much unanimous about being freaked out about our kid being in the passenger seat while another new driver’s at the wheel.
Which means the other mom is probably freaking out about her kid being driven around by ours?
Motherly human nature maybe?

My son is going to be 12 next week & he already drives on our property. Most of his friends drive on their properties as well. And, he’s already driven w/ a few of them although not off the property. Ask me again in a few years when son & Hubby have finished building son’s fastback mustang! Then my thoughts might change. lol

The other kids – hands down.

Sheila, I once thought it was them leaving with another teen driving, but since my girls are young, with August birthdays, I’ve become accustomed to this. Now………..ask me how I feel about the prospect of them driving alone in August, and a small terror overcomes me……it’s scary.
