Roll out the barrel.

The pork barrel that is.  Here we go again, a new bill is up for voting in the congress and once again it’s stuffed full with a bunch of crap that doesn’t have a thing to do with the bill into which it has been ‘stuffed’ into.  Shameful.  I cannot for the life of me understand why it is that the congress is incapable of voting on just one thing at a time.  It really isn’t hard…you just vote FOR or AGAINST it.  Simple.  Duh.

((rubbing my temples)) Didn’t we elect our congress to ‘represent’ us?  The little lowly people.  Democrats and Republicans are alike in one very important way.  They each have no trouble slipping a little pork into an important bill.    Now, call me crazy, but if I were to say….”Okay, I’ll vote for issue X but only if you agree to give me item Z in return”…I dunno, call me nuts but wouldn’t that be a form of bribery

Our system is so incredibly messed up and corrupt.  Will it ever get back to good?  To normal?  Is it even possible?   I’m watching closely to see what transpires with this new ‘stimulus’ plan of President Obama’s.   I’m crossing my fingers that the CRAP gets weeded out of this bill.  And I’m VERY disappointed over the said crap coming from the Democrats.   One could argue that this stems from 8 years of being stifled by the Republican controlled administration.  I say ‘just do the right frickin thing.  FOR ONCE.  Just put your stupid ass partisan politics and little whiny baby ways aside.  BOTH of you, all sides. ’      And as for the Republicans in Congress suddenly having an epiphany  and being appalled by the added crap in it?    This is perplexing, considering they controlled this country for decades and didn’t seem to have a conscience all this time.   I think it’s time for all of them to grow up, do their jobs or get the f*ck out.  Simple as that.  Like a citizen who doesn’t perform at work?  Ya fired!  The whole crooked bunch of you from both sides.

While were at it, just let the banks fail already.   If there’s one thing we should have learned after Fannie/Freddie…is that the higher ups from these institutions cannot handle money.  I know they are in business to do so…but let’s face it, they can’t.  AIG took their pot of gold with no strings attached and had parties costing US millions.  Wallstreet passed out BILLIONS in bonuses.  And the whole time Congress is scratching their stupid heads…’Hmmm, maybe we should have put some ‘rules’ and ‘oversights’ in place.’.       What a BUNCH OF MORONS.  That would be as stupid as you or I giving a credit card with no limit to our child.     If it weren’t so dire and serious, it would be funny.

  2. I feel your pain! Politics is very frustrating. You ask if it will ever go back to normal. Unfortunately, I think this has always been the norm. I’ve read a lot about our early years as a country and they were stuffing bills back then too.

I really do hate it, though, when both parties are more concerned with their political party than with the country.

  3. Did you hear the story about the bank (I think it was Citi) that wanted to buy a new plane? Congress stepped in and said, um no. You just took money from the pot that we printed up for the bailout. I guess they did something right there.

On the radio this morning, they were talking about mortgages, etc. Yes, the rates are low but the banks won’t lend. They are hording their money. Most people like us, we make their house payments on time and would like to refinance to save money and or have extra in our pockets in which we will spend and stimulate the economy with, are being told no.

  4. wow sheila…you’ve hit the nail on the head several times. this is sorta like whack-a-mole. i’m unbelievably frustrated by all of it.

the way i boil it down…like most situations…you have to look out for #1. count on no one. in this case –govt — will NOT do the right thing. work hard. save. spend wisely.

anyone looking for a noble decision that will benefit everyone…is pissing in the wind. my wife says i’m growing into a cynic. i’m just not buying into the game anymore.

if it sounds too good to be true….hello world….it is.

  5. I am very frustrated with this. This “stimulus” package is complete crap. Very little of it will go into effect in under two years, much of it is completely unrelated to stimulating the economy, (unless you consider mindlessly spending money you don’t have stimulation) and it will cost us over a trillion dollars in the long run. Not to mention the entitlement programs that it boosts up that will go on FOREVER costing us more money and accomplishing nothing. Ever since this country began its “war on poverty” in the sixties, we have spent more and more money not helping up but handing out to the “less fortunate.” The result? Poverty levels are exactly the same now as then. Government needs to get its big nose out of the economy. If the banks fuck up, let ‘em fail. If the big three auto can’t hack it, let ‘em fail. No business is “too big to fail.”

For the record – The democrats have controlled the legislature most of the second half of the 1900s. It was only the last 10-15 years that the republicans came into control. Not to forgive the role the reps have played in this, but there is more than enough blame to go around for our current situation, the dems need to stand up and take their share. They’ve had control for the last two years and did nothing. There were plenty of warnings and no one took heed.

There is so much wrong with our government today. I had really hoped that Obama would follow through on the “Change” he promised, but it is looking more and more like he’s just more of the same.

  7. LoL! Cara, it’s very refreshing to see you, of all people, fired up! lol. I actually couldn’t agree more with your comment. Every word, including who had control of congress and when. They all make me sick. I’d suggest we’s all ‘write our congressman’, lol, but I don’t suppose that would work. Cross your fingers that Obama does the right thing. That’s our last hope.

p.s. LOVE that you actually used the F word, that’s so funny, ha ha ha.

  8. I don’t know if we will ever get back to whatever normal is. I think the corruption is so deep, it will be interesting to see where we all end up. And those of us that have always played by the rules will definitely end up at the bottom of the heap.

(Oh and Sheila, you don’t know this yet, woman, but I just now got my 10th Bord on a Wire from leaving this comment here! I plan on posting the new batch Friday. It’ll be # 10 on the list.)

And kick those bankers in the ass of their $3000 suits.

  10. Couldn’t agree more about those bankers. I don’t know if we will ever get to a place of some sort of normalcy. I just hope that by the time my daughter is my age, things will be far better than today.

  12. I couldn’t of said it better! I agree….every last one of these politicians (on both sides!) are theifs, crooks, the list goes on and on!
We need a revolt! We need to rid the entire DC area of all these politicians and start from scratch! The entire lot of them need to go!
And whats with all these a-holes conveniently “forgetting” to pay taxes?!!!
Give me a break! We’d be in jail if we didn’t pay a dollar!!!! Come on, Americans! I can feel a revolution brewing!
