My name is Alisae, I live in Maryland and have come to your site through John Waire's site. This is my first time visiting you blog, it sure looks fun, I will try and stop back often. At this point it seems your child has done everything they can to get extra help from their teacher. Now it is your turn to address him/her. You are the only advocate for your child, you must address the issue. If you do not get anywhere with the teacher I would go to the department chair, and so on up the chain until you get positive results. I would be even more livid because you are spend $$$ to give your children the private school experience and they are getting the "IDGAS" (I don't give a shit) experience in that class. On the issue of asking another student for help, it may not be a bad idea. Most kids over the age of 14 only hear 1/2 of what anyone over the age of 18 has to say anyway, LOL. They may benefit from another peers perspective however, that should have never been the teachers answer to your childs questions in the class. Good luck and keep us informed. Alisae’s last blog post..Day 212 - Wednesday First let me introduce myself. If the teacher is not taking your daughter's requests for help seriously, it's time for you to intervene. And I would ask him why he expects a peer to help her understand. Perhaps it is that he anticipates them clarifying it for her in a way he can't. Or, perhaps you will be calling him out on skipping out on doing his job. In summary, I think everyone is saying the same thing. It's time for you to communicate directly with the teacher on behalf of your daughter. If that doesn't do it, up the chain of command you go. Good luck! Gettysburg Mom’s last blog post..I'm Pretty Sure Zoe Rues the Day... I think whether it is a public or private school you have a right to expect help when you ask for it. Oh, and hello from a new reader. :) Well, I’m a homeschooling mom, so if the teacher sucks, I guess I’ll have a meeting with myself. ;) If I paid the kind of money you’re paying for school, I’d be at the school, meeting with the teacher and ultimately with the principal, who must surely have an interest to keep you in the school.
