This post really hit home for me. My family is having a tough time with the economy and all. I'm sure you know our situation from reading my blog. With the whole unemployment statistics, they have to be off. I bet we are at 10% unemployment. They don't count all the people that have been denied unemployment. I was denied unemployment because I didn't work in California for very long (we moved out here in Feb. 2008. I worked from March until losing my job in Oct.), not long enough to qualify for unemployment benefits, and I make a little money with my blog so they consider that self-employment. Result: claim denied. Now what? How many more people are in my situation? Also I heard on the news that the unemployment fund here in California is going to run out in a few months. What are they going to do then? The latest trend out here is in the retail industry. Lots of specialty shops and some large chains are shutting their doors leaving thousands of people out of work. The whole situation is sad.

Our neighborhood rules won't let us have a fence, much less a goat or chicken. Stinkin' rules.
