So, I swear I’m not a bad mom (lol, how many times have I said that in this blog? ) But Alan had a painful toe for a couple weeks (ingrown nail) and the doc said to soak his toe in Epsom Salts. Soooo, we looked in the cabinet. There it was! An unopened carton of the magical miracle salts! Problem? They were left here by the previous owner (my aunt~otherwise I wouldn’t have kept anything).
Can you see the expiration date on this baby? 1994. Yup, that’s a whopping 14 years ago. In fact, they actually expired one month before Alan was even BORN! lol.
Oddly (I know), I gave it a try. (hey, it wasn’t MY toe! ha ha) The damned things worked and cleared the toe up within a couple days!

How does Epsom Salts expire? I mean, they’re SALT. It’s not like they go bad, do they??? Weird.
Thanks for the compliments on my Flickr photos. I’m glad you liked them. And yeah, the one on Donner Pass was a total fluke – head out the window, camera in hand….sometimes I just get lucky. lol
Happy New year to you and yours!!!

It happens! And they would probably still work in another 10 or 20 years. Some products are just built to last.

Are you saying I shouldn’t be serving my kids the fourteen year old Captain Crunch? Is that the bottom line here?

You’re brave to try out something that expired 14 years ago.
Glad it worked.

I didn’t realize they expired either. Interesting. That’s OK, I also didn’t know that toothpaste had an expiration date on it, lol. Not that any of my toothpaste is 14 yrs old… but I’m just saying.

Hahahaha– vintage epsom salts! ;P
At least they did the job! We laugh b/c my MIL unknowingly serves items from her “pantry” – stuff that is past the use by date. We all joke about it and I’m sure she’d be mortified to know she doing this.

I had no idea that Epsom Salt expired either. If it still worked maybe it doesn’t really need an expiration date. I would have used it too.
Those dates are just suggestions – not something you really have to pay attention to!

Glad that old salt worked. The big question is: did you throw away the leftovers when you were done? Or are you saving it for 2022?
