So how weird is this? I went shopping today, and at the entrance to the store, there were big huge bins of pumpkins. They were pretty good sized and only $2.99. So, I load three into the cart (each kid needs a pumpkin), and this filled up about 1/2 of the cart.
And everyone who’s pushed a cart around is consciously thinking how much the bill is going to add up to by how high the contents of the cart become. So I’m pushing and thinking….okay, the cart is pretty high up there…I don’t need this…don’t need that….can do without this….yadda yadda yadda.
I get to the register and holy crap! I have spent $60 LESS than what I normally spend on ONE WEEKS worth of groceries! Of course, I spent $10 on pumpkins….but those babies filled the cart and tricked my mind into loading less in the cart! So I actually spent $50 less ($60 – $10 in pumpkins).
Maybe I should just get 3 pumpkins every week!
